San Joaquin Church: Heritage of Iloilo

A hidden heritage unveiled at San Joaquin.

This church is standing for years with noticeable disproportion pediment style. The facade is strikingly historical as carved with the low relief mural titled Rendicion de Tetuan.

It is constructed in 1869 with lime stones quarried from Igbaras mountains with gleaming white corals from the San Joaquin shores. It is flanked by a three story bell tower to its right

and ruins of its old convent to its left. Among the sprawling ruins of the convent are an oval well and a kiln for baking bread.

To visit the church.

1 1/2 hour travel from airport (rent a van)
